Embracing Strategic Initiatives is the First Step to Success

In most school districts, each year brings many new initiatives. Introducing a great idea is one thing, but keeping track of its origin, intended purpose, effectiveness, and alignment with long-term district goals and budgets is another.

To ensure that any new investment is aligned with strategic objectives, has clearly articulated goals, and a means for tracking impact, District Management Group has made our New Initiative Application Form, an essential part of our strategic budgeting toolkit.

The Importance of a New Initiative Application Form

Once an initiative is in place, it can be challenging to remember who originally championed it, why it was introduced, how it was meant to further the district’s strategic objectives, how success was defined, how it was meant to be measured, and what data was expected to be tracked.

We designed a New Initiative Application Form to serve as a crucial tool in this regard, helping educational leaders to:

  • Improve clarity and focus: The form clarifies the responsible party, purpose, and expected outcomes of new initiatives, ensuring they are well thought out and justified.

  • Ensure alignment: The form helps stakeholders determine if each new initiative maintains the district’s strategic goals, guaranteeing the effectiveness of resource allocation.

  • Facilitate accountability: Documenting key details before starting (and investing in) a new initiative helps maintain clarity and accountability throughout the initiative’s lifecycle.

  • Enhance coordination: Having a form in place makes coordinating between different departments and stakeholders smoother, as everyone can access the same foundational information.

  • Better manage resources: Tracking all initiatives aids in better forecasting and resource allocation, ensuring that initiatives are sustainable and effective.

How to Complete the New Initiative Application Form

We understand that district leaders are short on time and have a long to-do list. So, we’ve made completing the New Initiative Application Form a straightforward process that, if the investment is well planned, won’t require too much time. Below is the information you need to complete the form:
